Tottenham Hotspur 07/08

Now that the news on Darren Bent has settled, we can put the long transfer saga behind us and look forward. Ziegler has indeed departed to Sampdoria, but no other changes. And yes, the blazing debate over Jermain Defoe’s future is in full swing. Having recently rejected a new 5-year contract, there are premiership clubs waiting in the wings for his departure. However, he has stated he is actually happy at Spurs, and is prepapred to fight for his place.

Other recent news that has caught my eye/scared the hell out of me is the news of the Fernando Torres transfer to Liverpool. I think he will be an excellent acquisition. A deadly striker with serious ability: just what Liverpool need. And with da Silva signing for Arsenal, and more to come I imagine, it’s not a given that we’ll easily challenge ‘The Big 4′.

*Jay’s tip: Newcastle are well positioned to finish in the top 6. A top manager with decent signings, players and staff, mean that the Toon Army should be in high hopes for the upcoming season.

Other teams who we should watch out for are Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers. Good teams, both with good managers will be looking to improve on last season. As long as we don’t rest on our laurels and instead stay on the path that Big MJ has set out, we are likely to be going on a European Tour next season as well.
