Thursday Spurs Observations

• Berbatov to Manchester United seems like a thin rumor to me. Rooney will be out another month and a half but Berbatov will be on the shelf for the majority of that time as well. For the money Sir Alex Ferguson would have the club dish out for Berba it would make more sense to acquire a striker that would be able to contribute straight away in Rooney’s absence.
• Let’s not go overboard assuming Berbatov even wants to jettison. The entire squad, including Berba, looked like crap v. Sunderland. I’m sure he was unhappy Jol pulled him, as any player would be, but upon watching tape of the game I’m sure Berbatov saw that his performance was less then stellar on that day in particular.
• I fear Real Madrid. They have the ability to come with the big dollars…. Hopefully signing Heinze and Robben will satisfy their enormous appetite for massive summer moves.
• Right now Spurs need to settle the ship after all of this Jol/Ramos business. Selling what has become perhaps the most popular of current Tottenham Hotspur would be madness and a massive step back for a club that feels earning a Champions League berth is a realistic ambition for 07/08.
• Last, how would landing 40 million for Berbatov with only a week remaining (if a deal was done soon, and we know that’s not the case) be beneficial to the club? Having massive amounts of cash to spend yet no time to work deals makes no sense. Furthermore, selling a player of Berbatov’s quality could mean an even rougher start to this season. That being said, all the money in the world won’t lure players to a losing side come January or next summer.
• Last, I’m going to be pissed off as all hell if I spent 100 bucks for a Spurs shirt with a Mancs player’s name on back. COYS!
