You Can Stick Your Buy Back Clause!By: Robert Reed | August 3rd, 2013
I despair. The latest utterly true and beyond doubt report I am reading is that Real are graciously allowing exciting young prospect Alvaro Morata to join Spurs as part of the apparent Gareth Bale deal on the condition that there is a buy back clause. In other words, we can have him until he gets really good under our guidance and then they’ll take him back.
Why do I do this to myself? The whole Bale deal could be rubbish for all I know and here I am getting angry about the perceived minutiae of the thing. Still, it sounds very Real Madridish.
Personally I think the following things are true. Bale wants to leave, and negotiations are taking place between the two clubs. Yes, papers do talk a lot of bull and there are no attributable sources confirming any of this but then it has gone far enough that if there was no truth in it I’m sure somebody at Spurs, be it AVB or Bale himself, would have set the record straight by now. I refused to believe it when it was just the Spanish press, but virtually every newspaper at home and abroad is now singing from largely the same hymn sheet and I generally follow the maxim that if a million people tell you that you are dead, you should lie down.
Plus, I’ve checked with Guinness and Bale is not now listed as sufferer of the world’s most serious arse injury so I’m thinking that he is uninjured yet not playing, which tells us a lot.
While I would not like to bet that the player will definitely leave, I’d say it is looking increasingly likely.
Therefore, we need a good deal out of it and Madrid need to dig deep, yet they appear to want everything on their terms. We can’t have this player, we can’t have that player. Well OK then you can’t have our player, how do you like them apples? Honestly, not only do they want to dump on our head, they want us to say thanks for the hat.
This is, of course, total conjecture. Nobody has a clue what is going on and all these stories are just people trying to justify their pay cheques.
There is little point in trying to second guess any of this. Want another example? Vlad Chiriches. Why am I still reading stories about this guy when the deal is supposedly dead thanks to the intervention of the club’s chairman in jail? Even now, new stories pronounce ‘Chiriches on verge of joining Spurs’. Don’t they know the deal is dead? This story is total BS.
Then what occurs to me? That I read about the deal being dead in the same place that I’m reading about the deal going ahead. Is that story the one that’s BS? Is their owner even in jail? I’d never heard of Vlad Chiriches until a couple of weeks ago, he could be a made up person like Rolo Tomassi for all I know.
I give up. I should just hibernate until the window shuts and poke my head out to have a look at our squad. So many articles on NewsNow are based on absolutely nothing, and serve no purpose whatsoever.
Come to think of it, what the hell was this article about?
