Whispers from Madrid…
By: Drew | July 16th, 2009
Apparently Due to the fact that Real Madrid forgot that you can only have 25 players registered in La Liga, Some good players are up on the chopping block. And guess what? We’ve been linked with all of them!
Arjen Robben, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Gabriel Heinze, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and Alvaro Negredo have all been linked with moves to the Lane. Now don’t get me wrong, I like some of these guys, but are we really gonna spend the astronomical amounts that these guys would want in wages let alone the transfer fees. We all know that Harry has to sell to buy this summer and last time I checked we only made roughly 8 million from the Zokora sale. So let’s just entertain the idea as if all of these guys were possibilities…

-Arjen Robben: 25 years old, Pacey winger, International footballer, Has premier league experience. He has stated that he is happy in Madrid, but described Spurs as “…a great club.” Price: Unknown(rumored to be 13-14 million)

-RVN: 33 years old, Established striker, International footballer, Has premier league experience(a crazy scoring record too). Strangely has maintained his squad number so far even with the additions this summer. I figure Madrid want him to stick around as back up since he’s older. Price: somewhere in the realm of 2million.

-Gabriel Heinze: Aged Defender, International footballer, Has premier league experience. Nothing has been said about whether Real are hoping to get rid of him, but with the addition of Raul Albiol you have to think someone is on their way out. Price: Unknown

-Klaas-Jan Huntelaar: Younger venomous striker, International Footballer, Consistent goal scoring record since playing for AGOVV. Deemed surplus to requirements by Real, who have excepted an offer from Stuttgart already for the Dutchman. Luckily for us he has stated that he’d prefer a move to England, Unluckily for us Harry is hoping to pay for him in installments. Price: 15-16 million depending on your sources.

-Alvaro Negredo: Young spanish striker, Spent last two years at Almeria until Real activated the buy back clause. Many are saying that they did it because he has been attracting a lot of interest from other leagues. Others say that they wanted him as a future prospect. I don’t know nor do I care. He’s also been included in a supposed swap deal to Liverpool for Xabi Alanso. Either way, He’s decent but I don’t know if I’d say he is better than what we have, and he’s pricey. Price:13 million
Long story short I would like to see Robben and Huntelaar here. The possibility of either of those happening? I don’t know but here is my Ideal lineup
Gomes
Corluka,Woodgate,King,BAE
Lennon,Palacios,Modric,Robben
Huntelaar, Pavlyuchenko/Defoe
Huntelaar said that he wants to have his future decided by this weekend, So we’ll see in the next few days whether or not we can get him.
If you’ve made it this far, then I thank you for embellishing in fantasy with me. As you can probably tell not much has been going on in the transfer front.
See you guys soon.

“…by Real, who have excepted an offer from Stuttgart already for the Dutchman.” Rumour is we’ve made a matching bid but due to the nature of paying in installments it has yet to be ACCEPTED (not excepted). However Levy is reported to be in Madrid presently…expect one (possibly 2) deals to be concluded shortly (rumoured: by friday).

{I think Ruud would do a very good job, if we can’t afford to sign Huntelaar then he would be a good signing.

Huntelaar would probably be the ideal partner for Defoe whilst Negredo is too similar IMO. Negredo could very well turn out to be another Darren Bent who scored a mass amount of goals for a mediocre club but then fails to do it at the top level. We’ll see.
