Welcome back Beanpole!

It’s Official, Peter Crouch is now a Tottenham player. After a long flirtation with the England international Harry finally got his guy, and had this to say about it.

“(Crouch) has joined the club. He has had a medical and everything was fine,” said Redknapp.

“We now have four strikers as it looks like Darren Bent could move. I believe he is close to doing a deal with Sunderland.”

“He gives us a bit of a different option,” he said. “We now have four top strikers which is what you need at every club and so I am delighted to have Crouchy.

“He is different to almost anyone else in the league in terms of his size and the way he plays the game, so I am pleased to have him.

“With him, Robbie (Keane) Jermain Defoe and (Roman) Pavlyuchenko we have a good strikeforce.”

This Deal has been confusing because some reports say that we’re out of the race to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and others say that Harry is still interested. But with our current defensive holes we might see the next dip in the market for an established CB. Harry said this at the press conference.

“The defence has not improved,” he said.

“We obviously have the injuries. Jonathan Woodgate has gone to America to see about his injury while Michael Dawson had an injection in his Achilles tendon.

“Hopefully he will be fit in about four weeks but it means he will miss the start of the season and therefore we are very much relying on Ledley.”

Recently Harry has denied receiving an offer for Alan Hutton, so I could see Vedran Corluka moved into the middle with Ledley and Hutton playing on the right. This could be a temporary fix till we get a new CB or until Woodgate and Dawson are fit again.

I’ll keep you posted if any more worthwhile news comes up.

I hope Crouch gets to play regularly. I still think he’s really underrated, just because he looks a bit odd.

Fine and dandy and everything, but we really need some young, healthy defenders. Right now.

This is why I love Harry Redknapp:

“It’s nice to have some strikers,” he told Sky Sports News. “I think everybody needs good strikers.

“We’ve still got Darren Bent, I think, I’m not sure, and Darren’s a good player. So we’ve got lots of options up front.”

Really don’t see the benefit for either Crouch or Spurs with this move.

    We’ll see though…
