Transfer Rumours
By: Lucas | March 22nd, 2007With another slow news day, I’d like to take another look at possible transfers coming into Spurs. The focus is on defense (as it should be.)
Gareth Bale- It seems like he might be another case of media hype building on itself, because based on the little I’ve seen he hasn’t been ridiculously impressive. We do, however, need a left back, and it wouldn’t hurt to throw in a younger guy, even if he ISN’T great, because he can at least grow, whereas Assou-Ekotto just blows, and Lee (how does nobody talk about this?) is not naturally left footed, which does rather inconvenience him. He can by all accounts, though, take a decent set piece, which is something we’ve been lacking. If 10 million is the price, I’m not sure, especially as he’s fairly likely to go to Manchester United, and we probably can’t bid with them.
Anton Ferdinand- I’ve heard this one a couple of times, and quite frankly I’m disgusted that we would even consider him. I’m not even going to elaborate on this. He’s terrible.
Gabriel Heinze- This was the other big rumor for Spurs during the winter break, but I worry that we might not be big enough for him, inasmuch as the other teams interested are AC Milan, Inter Milan, and such. If we were to get him, this could be a huge deal, as I’ve always felt that he can really play, and in truth have no idea why Man U. would want to get rid of him- unless, of course, they’re assured of getting Bale, in which case, tally-ho.

Portuguese press says Tottenham offered 10 million (euros) to SCP for Nani, but word is they want 20 to let him go.

Forget Heinze, he’ll keel over and die after a few minutes next year. Gareth Bale sounds like a better find, that is if the price is within reason.
