Tottenham in 2009…
By: Drew | January 1st, 2009
So a new year has come and hopefully this will lead to a fresh start for our beloved Spurs side, who sadly have been having a bit of bad luck as 2008 came to an end. I’m confident that with a new year coming(and hopefully some new signings) many goals and well deserved points will follow. Lets all hope that all the hard work that our side has done to improve will be rewarded with some good results and a record that leads us clear of the relegation zone.
The January transfer window will officially kick off here shortly and if you’re interested in who we are linked with Setanta has a good table here. But rest assured that as soon as a new member has joined Spurs you’ll see it here immediately, so check in every now and then to check up on who we’re interested in or who may be our new messiah… or claims to be.
With the season starting back up on the 10th our first match after the break is against Wigan at the JJB. Steve Bruce’s side currently sits 7th in the league, with impressive performances this season from Amr Zaki, and Luis Antonio Valencia. A win away to a top 10 side could be exactly what Harry Redknapp’s men need to boost their confidence going into the 2nd half of the season.
My new years wish is that our injury woes come to an end. I hope to see Giovani Dos Santos return to fitness so he can get some much needed first team exposure. I have high hopes for this kid and now that he’s back in training along with Richardo Rocha it looks like we’ll have a couple more options for substitutions for the squad. I just hope that Harry mixes things up a little bit. I also hope to see Gareth Bale play in Left back more often(although it’s looking like he will now that BAE got that red), as well as seeing Gunter come in a bit more so he can show his ability.
Hope that all you Yidos out there had a good(and safe) New Years, and all the best wishes from the Spurs Offside. COYS!!!

yeah seeing Taarabt would be really nice as well. It’s looking a little more likely that we’ll be getting Defoe rather than Bellamy. either way i’m with you, i think arshavin or Cavenaghi would be better. oh well we’ll see.
also slight mistake on the post, We play wigan on the 11th not the 10th. my bad!

Big game for us today. FA Cup against Wigan isn’t going to be easy but luckily it looks like Zaki will be out injured. To be honest I don’t rate him highly anyway, but it’s always good. Looks like Bale will get the nod at left back because of BAE’s suspension and that Taraabt may be a substitute along with another youngster or two. Whatever happens, should be a fun game and I definitely think ‘Arry has what it takes to win the FA Cup again. Also rumours of Defoe coming back are getting stronger and stronger as he called in “sick” for training. Looks to me like someone doesn’t want to be cup tied. Ha!
