Tottenham 0 – Stoke 1: Oh cruel fate…
By: Drew | October 25th, 2009
Well not the ideal result at home to Stoke, but I’ve got to hand it to Simonsen for a great game in goal for the Potters. The game had a few good chances but it never really worked out for us.
This game saw the return of Jonathan Woodgate and sadly it only lasted 14 minutes before he took a boot to the head. Michael Dawson made his season debut as well coming in for Woodgate after his injury. We also lost Aaron Lennon to injury for the last 10 minutes of the game, as Harry had used all 3 subs by that time.
Our line up was pretty standard with the exception of Crouch and Keane starting together up front. As we were without Jermain Defoe due to the red card away at Pompey last week. This also gave out of favor striker Roman Pavlyuchenko a substitute appearance, who came on late in place of Robbie Keane.
We play Everton next in the Carling Cup, and with their dip in form lately I’d say that we’ve just got to play like we know we can and we should be able to get a result. Then after that we play the Arse away on Halloween weekend, so it’s sure to be a tough couple of games ahead.
Until next time…

Disappointing result I really thought we could grab three points and take advantage of the other teams slip ups but just have to brush ourselves down and prepare f eth enext one

I was very disappointed with this loss. I certainly hope Lennon isn’t injured, but then again, he better be. Walking off and leaving us a man down like that….

It was a disappointing result but one that we can reflect on and say that we created the chances, but just didn’t take them. The fine form of Simonsen didn’t help, either. He made a number of fine saves and really impressed me, especially after I had initially rated our chances of winning a fair bit higher when I found out that he was starting. Defoe was missed in this game and would have taken a couple of the chances made. Just a shame that he was suspended. He could have bagged himself a couple more goals to add to his tally.
