Spurs(second team) 1 – Shakhtar 1
By: Drew | February 26th, 2009
Well that was a bit of a tease wasn’t it? for a minute there I thought we had a chance to nick a second goal and push it to extra time and maybe penalties. Low and behold I was wrong…
Quite frankly I’m proud of the performance that the boy’s put in. Especially considering the lack of regular first team players that we’re on the field. Giovani Dos Santos definitely used this opportunity to prove his worth. and hopefully we see him on the field a bit more often in the league from now on, after that performance Harry would be stupid to not at least put him on the bench.
Sadly we’re out of the Uefa cup and now have only the Carling cup final to look forward to. I’m trying to stay optimistic for this one and I genuinely feel like we could turn up against ManU this time around. I do feel like climbing the table is important, and hopefully today’s draw pays off for us in the long run.

I’d say that much like Martin O’Neill earlier this evening, Harry is probably quite happy that you’re out of the UEFA Cup! I know that the ethos of football is to do your best in every game, but I’d say that if someone had said to Harry this morning that he’d only have the EPL and the Carling Cup Final to focus on from tonight onwards, he’d have been delighted.

A good performance from the lads. Hopefully, we can focus on climbing the table and the Carling cup final and get ready for next season where we don’t have to worry about continental competitions.

Great game. Obika looked like he should be playing every game, he was more dangerous when attacking than anything we’ve put out in the last couple of matches. And fuck Gio what the hell kind of strike was that.

I was really impressed with the lads last night, especially Obika, and Giovanni finally showed us something. I’m wondering if it is a little too late for Giovanni here at the club, I have the feeling that Harry still has his mind made up on him. But Obika has definitely shown me something, I think with a little more seasoning he will be a real player for us. I think Harry is relieved to be out of the UEFA Cup, he can concentrate on the League and making sure we stay up.

If we look at all that talented youth we put out there we have such a promising future it’s not even funny! Obika, Dos Santos, Parrett, Gunter, Bale, and even Bostock who came on for a 15 minute run! Right there are 6 serious talents I cannot wait to see in a few years. If theres anything positive to take out of the match it’s definitely that.

We played well, but we were unlucky. I am surprised why we didn’t play some of our stop players. I think obika is going to be starting a lot more games, he played amazing. And Dos Santos, when given the chance to shine he takes it. I would really like to see him play, or in the starting line up. He has so much potential.
