Spurs to spend more in January
By: Richard | October 19th, 2007
I was watching Sky Sports News last night and they reported that Spurs are raking in record profits this year. Apparently this will translate into even more spending come the January transfer window. This got me to thinking; how should they direct these funds? I think the defense will shore up once King is back and although I’m not happy with the performance in goal I’d have to say the one spot I’d like to see a major upgrade would be central midfield.
When it comes down to it what we lack more then anything is quality right in the middle of the pitch. All of the major European clubs have a piece like that and when we play the higher end clubs they expose us right in the middle of the pitch. Just think what a difference a passing midfielder could make to a team that already has so much invested up front? Someone who is capable of linking up play from the middle of the pitch!! Let me know what you think…. No more “he’s one for the future” bull shit. I’m taking about a 15-17 million dollar player, that plays (thanks Mr. Bent)… I want quality right now! Give me your thoughts. COYS!

Hi Richard, the dream choice would be Juan Roman Riquelme. He hasn’t played for Villareal this season because he’s fallen out with the coach and management. The last club game he played was for Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores final, which he practically won single-handedly - Scoring several important goals in the tournament, including two in the final of a 3-0 victory.
If we showed some bravado, we could snare him, but there must be 50 European clubs who’d love him in their side, and also some South-American ones.
It seems that the current man in the spotlight is the Russian playmaker and captain Andrei Arshavin. I have it on good authority that he is the man that will make the move to Spurs in January.

Ah, I like the sound of that, Jay…. I’m aware of Riquelme’s situation and adding him would really put us in the possition we would like to be in…. first I’ve heard of Arshavin! Thanks, as always, for the info!
