Spurs Offside Lives To See Another Day
By: Sam | September 27th, 2008A warm hello to all, my name is Sam and from this day forward I will be serving as blogger for this fine piece of blogwork. I’m the same Sam from the France Offside, yeah, but don’t be fooled by my lack of posting there: Now that I have a blog I can be biased on, I think the posts will flow a lot smoother. Because yes, I am a very big Yid, and yes, my posts might be a bit on the suggestive side sometimes.
But hey, I’m pretty keen on making this site an interesting one, and I hope I can do it. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a 17-year old dude from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who likes crossword puzzles, minesweeper, fast distorted music where you can’t understand the lyrics, and football. By my count, that’s all you need to know.
So, where are Spurs as we speak? Ha, I hardly need to tell you. In traditional Tottenham fashion we’ve started the season as strongly as a pack of skinny gutter rats, with oh-so-close opening losses to Boro and Sunderland. What with all our new arrivals, Gomes, Giovani, Bentley, Modric, Corluka, Pavlyuchenko and Campbell, of course we need time to find the right fit, and the last three matches have shown that, winning against Wisla Krakow in the UEFA Cup, drawing against Wigan without conceding (!) and in the latest installment, doing away with Newcastle at a very echo-y St. James’ Park.
Let’s talk a little more about that match shall we? Or to be more specific, let’s talk about the second half, because that first forty-five minutes was worthy of a Conference match, if that. It all started when Juande brang on Giovani. He was a little hot and cold over the course of the season before stepping on, but he made the difference. The first time he got the ball at halfway and sped up to the edge of the box, the first time of many that happened might I add, you could tell we were watching a whole other match. The way he created space for himself might have rubbed off on his teammates, because it was soon thereafter that Lennon got his right foot teed up and put the ball on the head of Roman Pavlyuchenko, who with the simplest of headers scored his first Spurs goal. Minutes later is was Jamie O’Hara who read a shitty pass to perfection and stepped in front of Taylor to run it in and finish perfectly. Other moments include Jonathan Woodgate clearing off the line at the last moment from a Duff shot, and Coloccinni kicking Pavlyuchenko (herein refered to as Pav) in the groin area in midair.
So tomorrow is Pompey at Fratton Park. I’d love to jump into the skillet and do a liveblog, but I’m all busy tomorrow. That said every game possible, I will liveblog for your reading and discussing pleasure. But until then, play fast or die, and come on you Spurs.
(Also, I’m having a bit of trouble with posting pictures. Hopefully I’ll figure it out pretty soon.)

Sam,
Richard here. I used to write this blog about 4 months ago until my schedule made it impossible and I fully remember your comments on many of my rants in the past. That being said I’m glad you’ve taken over here on the Spurs page! I can’t wait to leave you my feedback now that the shoe (boot) is on the other foot. COYS!Posted from
