Spurs Laughing All The Way To The Bank
By: Jay | July 20th, 2007
Daniel Levy will literally be sprinting to the bank after a colossal fee of £6m for Egyptian striker Mido was confirmed. He will be going to Birmingham City to ply his trade, after a permanent deal was agreed. It was initially a loan deal, with a view to a permanent transfer for £5m should City stay in the division. However, Steve Bruce has decided he wants him on the books. If he had done his homework, he would have known that when Mido was on loan from Roma at the Lane, he was brilliant. OK, we lacked a little else in the team but he performed well, and more significantly showed a good attitude. But he was trying to earn a contract at that point. Even when Martin Jol told him to lose weight, he did. Then, he got his contract and we saw a different Mido. Anyway, it’s all in the past now and I await the image of Mido in a City shirt so that I KNOW he’s gone.
The fee of £6m is quite incredible too. We paid less than that so I don’t think anyone will be questioning the transfer, perhaps not even Brum fans who have got a decent player. And if he scores 12-15 goals, or more, it’d be worth it. More so, if that keeps them in the league. Everyone knows how important a good striker is in the Premier League, and City have captured one. With that money, we could perhaps look at one more quality player. Wesley Sneijder, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Martin Petrov. Should we get one of these players I think we could have the most complete squad in the league, barring possibly Manchester United.

That is ridiculous.

Now if we can just get rid of Ghaly, Tainio, Murphy, and Jenas (who might fetch a significant price that could be spent on a left winger)we’re alls et.
On Jenas - basically, he’s doesn’t play good enough defense to take Zokora’s slot, and he couldn’t make a telling pass if his life depended on it. In other words - a perfect England midfielder for McLaren.
