Spurs 2 – Liverpool 1: A Pretty Good Place To Start…
By: Drew | August 16th, 2009
So today marked the opening Game of Tottenhams season, and boy we couldn’t have asked for a better result. Goals From Benoit Assou-Ekotto and new boy Sebastian Bassong were enough to send an Alonso-less Liverpool home packing.
If you didn’t see the goals then I’m sorry to say you missed some good ones. BAE controlled a rebounded free kick and rifled it into the upper left corner for the first. Then only a few minutes after Gomes gave away a stupid penalty and Stevie G slotted home L’Pools goal, Sebastian Muthafuckin Bassong rose above Liverpools back line to head in a free kick to seal it.
I just have to say that we looked really great all over the pitch except for one or two challenges that were clumsy, but that’s to be expected in the beginning of the season. Luckily none of them cost us the game… as a few very well could have.
Either way starting the season off with a nice 3 points is fine by me. We got Hull on Wednesday evening so be sure to catch that on a thread if you can.

Crouch was missing headers like Darren Bent….and Darren Bent scored off of a header in his first game for Sunderland.
What the hell is going on?
Good win, though!

Don’t even blame Gomes for the goal. Seriously man, did you see the defending? Hudd once again shows his obvious lack of pace and well the needless to say Johnson walking through 3 or 4 of our players is just poor team defending. Sure Gomes had no need to come out but I definitely wouldn’t put the blame on him.
