Spurs 2 – Brum 1: Victory comes at a price…
By: Drew | August 30th, 2009
Sorry for the delay on this post but I’ve been having some hardware issues. luckily it would seem that they are behind me.
Well another case of Spurs leaving it late too clinch the 3 points, and Aaron Lennon was the hero again for the second week in a row. After Peter Crouch scored the first goal from a Huddlestone cross, it took less than five minutes for Brum to equalize. It looked like we’d have to say goodbye to our perfect record, until lightening quick Lennon clinched the winner in the 90th minute.
Sadly this victory came at the cost of our Croatian play maker Luka Modric, as after limping off at halftime, scans have shown he has a fractured fibula. The club has announced he’ll be out for about 6 weeks, so it’ll be a hit to our midfield. Luckily we do have Robbie Keane, David Bentley and Giovani Dos Santos that all have experience playing that wide left position. Not to say that Modric won’t be missed as he’s been the shining star in our midfield.
Also in other team news Pascal Chimbonda has completed a transfer to Blackburn after only arriving at Spurs last January, and I’m sure we lost money on that sale. Kevin-Prince Boateng has also been transferred to Pompey for a fee reported to be around 4 million. I wish them both the best at their new clubs.
Joining Kevin will be Jamie O’Hara, who will be going to Pompey on loan after signing a contract extension with Spurs, and I have to say I’m pleased to hear it as he’s been a great workhorse for us. The first team experience at Pompey should be good for the boy.
We’ve got Man Utd next week and we need to keep our run going. Until then…

Losing Modric is gut-wrenching. He really was on form so far this season. I take all the tranfer news with a huge glass (not grain) of salt, but the rumors I’m hearing today are interesting. Can’t wait to see how all this last minute stuff turns out.

I’m really devastated by Luka’s injury… hopefully he can heal quickly and be back at full strength in the time they said, but on the other hand, I really hope that they will give Gio an extended run on the left hand side to show his creativity, and maybe earn a place in the first team squad
