Let’s Go To Poland (And Then To The Group Stage)
By: Sam | October 1st, 2008This is not going to be easy. First of all, playing a match in Poland is no easy task, and the pitch could easily be a carpet of crap. Plus, as we saw in the first leg, Wisla Krakow are simply not an easy side to beat. We did at the Lane, though, which brings me to another point: A 2-1 advantage going into the second leg away is a pretty awkward advatage to have, because you can’t play for a scoreless draw just because of the possibility of them scoring one in the last minute.
So what should we expect from Spurs tomorrow? I didn’t catch the Portsmouth game, but I wouldn’t imagine it would influence this one too much. In the back, Ramos lined up Gunter, Woodgate, King and Bale in the first leg, with Bentley, Zokora, Jenas and Lennon in the middle, and Gio and Bent up front. If you ask me, that’s perfectly fine except I’d have O’Hara and Campbell in there instead of Zokora (losing a lot of balls in the midfield, silly fouls) and Jenas (for Christ’s sake, that handball). Let’s remember Roman Pavlyuchenko is ineligible.
We can do it, I’m confident. The beauty of the UEFA Cup is that it’s where you realize that not all teams outside of England are goofs, but I’d settle for a goofy performance by the Poles if it’s what we need.
1-1? Yeah, 1-1. And it’s got to be Giovani who scores it. Also, I’d love to liveblog it, but since it starts at 7:40 AM for me, I’m going to have to miss the second half to go to physics class. Fuckin’ school.
Until tomorrow then, COYS!
