Let’s Get Over Excited!!
By: Robert Reed | February 10th, 2013
What the hell, so much doom and gloom. So Levy forgot the team motto during the transfer window, let’s all hope he lucks out and ends up looking like a genius.
There is definite potential for things to go royally pear shaped by the end of the season, but on the other hand there is an outside chance that we could all be stunned by an amazing outcome. Let’s look at that one, eh?
For starters, the next two games are Europa League ties. A double header against Lyon to be precise. Of course it would be great to win the cup, but if we go out I wouldn’t be sobbing into my beer as we can then concentrate solely on the league.
I see these as two no pressure games where we can rest a couple of key players and try to get the likes of Adebayor into the zone. I want Ade to get excited about what we can achieve this season; he has all that talent we can utilise if he puts his head down.
This break from the Premiership could not have come at a better time, as Defoe makes his recovery from injury. The rest could see him return with a new vigour, hopefully bringing with it a return to something like his early season form.
So, the league? Here’s where it potentially gets good. We have west Ham as our next Premiership game. Winnable? Certainly. Manchester City and Chelsea however…play each other.
West Ham is a must win! If we achieve that then we will either be sitting in third place with all games played (with a Chelsea loss or draw), or still fourth but a tantalising two points away from second place.
Compared to Chelsea and Man City over the last ten games, we are the form team. We certainly have the most in form player in the league at the moment.
Likely we will crash the cosy little tet รก tet at the top of the table? Frankly, no. Possible? Absolutely! At the very least, if we beat West Ham the league table is going to look very rosy for a while.
Really though I just want to finish above Chelsea; in our first season with their ex-manager. Oh bliss.
COYS!

Oh yes, bring it on! The win against the Newcastle Foreign Legion was vital and we seem to be winning those ‘must wins’ at the moment. And now Defoe gets rested, Ade gets vested, Holtby gets tested and Arsenal remain detested! COYS!!!

I would love to see a trophy in our chest this year.Europa hands us that opportunity so no need to take it lightly.
Ade should focus now that AFCON is over n put his feet and brains to work on the pitch.Holtby looks like a good bargain but maybe should be played left wing for now and allow super Bale to freelance in the middle.Defoe’s injury is a blessing in disguise cos it will re-energize him and hopefully come back with goals to push us to third place finish.
COYS to our spurs lads and Avb.

Good post. I’m glad that there’s finally some optimism out there. So many Spurs articles lately have been all doom and gloom. So what we don’t have a striker? Arsenal don’t have a defense, Chelsea don’t have a good manager, Everton don’t have any depth. All of the teams competing for the two CL spots have major flaws, and the Tottenham and Arsenal incarnations from last season could probably beat them all. There’s no point in being pessimistic this season just because of last year.
