Kaboul signs
By: Jay | July 5th, 2007
France U-21 defender Younes Kaboul has completed his move to Tottenham for a fee of around £8m. In France, he is considered one of the most promising, if not the most promising, young players in the country. There is similar praise for Adel Taraabt, who we signed permanently a couple of weeks ago, that he is considered the next Zidane. No pressure then, but we have to be careful when thing like ‘he’s the next (place legend here)’. Apparently, Bruno Cheyrou was ‘the next Zidane’ and look how that turned out. Anyway, back to Kaboul he’s a powerful defender, quick and strong in the air and this signing really excites me. As we know, we need to stop the goals flying in at the back, and this signing means we have 4 quality centre backs and Anthony Gardner. With sufficient squad depth in defence, we should see less balls getting past Robbo.
*Apologies for a previous post where I described Yuri Berbiche as a striker, he is indeed a left-back. Which means we have Lee, Assou-Ekotto, Bale and Berbiche all in competition for that position. And if it gets hairy also Stalteri and as a last resort, Gardner.

I hope so John. We know he has a brilliant left foot, and although only young, is tough enough to cope with the physicality of the Premier League. Also his speed and ability to make an accurate pass or cross could be invaluable. However, i’d like to see a campaigned left-winger join Spurs because we don’t need to see the ability of Lennon slightly wasted on the left, when he can cause utter mayhem down the right-hand side.
