International Round up!

By: Drew | April 2nd, 2009

I’ll make this one quick, because I’m sure most of you have checked the scores and read the stories…

England, as I’m sure everyone knows, Did well with their new look and newish line up. Aaron Lennon played real well in both games, and it would seem he has a pretty bright international future. On the contrary, Darren Bent was brought in to replace injured Carlton Cole, Emile Hesky, and Peter Crouch, but was sent home after picking up an injury on Tuesday.

Meaning this weekend will likely see Robbie Keane, Who played extremely well for Ireland picking up a draw against both Italy and Bulgaria, Paired with Roman Pavlyuchenko, Who also played really well for Russia in the game against Azerbaijan picking up the first goal as well as playing against Lichtenstein. I’m actually pretty glad about this, because I like Pav as a holding striker feeding Keane in the box all day long.

Croatia’s swamping of Andorra, 2-0, Saw Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric play the entire game. Chris Gunter and Gareth Bale will both want to forget this break after Wales lost to Finland and Germany. But I think Alan Hutton will have enjoyed his shift for Scotland in the 2-1 win over Iceland as it was his first full shift since returning from his injury. Wilson Palacios played both games over the break for Honduras against Trinidad and Tabago and Mexico, putting in solid performance’s in both.

Does this kid ever catch a break?

Giovani Dos Santos, our young mexican international, has yet again picked up an injury that could affect his miserable season.

After what seemed to be a nice start to his loan to Ipswich town, Giovani seems to have picked up a bad groin injury and has since returned to Spurs to have it assessed. Depending on the outcome he may be fit to continue his matches for the “Tractor Boys”. The injury kept him from participating in Mexico’s World cup qualifier this week against Honduras.

I’m sad to hear this considering the Lad nagged himself a goal in the short time he’s been there and has been causing all sorts of trouble for the championship’s back lines. I hope he can continue to excel down there so he can return to Spurs in the summer.

In other new’s Tottenham have offered young Cameroonian international Vincent Aboubaker a trial, the 17 year-old is said to be the next Eto’o and it should be interesting to see how that pans out. The trial is said to undergo at the end of the current season.

After all the Excitement of the International breaks, We play Blackburn on Saturday. I have full confidence in taking all 3 points from the game as our form has been really strong as of late. It should be interesting to see if there are any changes to the side after the break, but i don’t see anything huge.

I feel so bad for Gio dos Santos. He’s a really talented player but like you said, he can’t catch a break. Hopefully ‘Arry has some faith in him and doesn’t try to offload him come the summer. If Spurs have faith in him then he could prove to be a real gem for them.
