Spurs Go Marching On! (To Semi-Final)

What a dream game for Tottenham Hotspur! Jermaine Defoe scores six minutes in as Spurs dominate City early only to find themselves down a man minutes later as Didier Zokora receives a harsh red card. Defoe was then forced to come off in favor of Teemu Tainio in order to shore up Spurs already thin defense that had only three defenders suited up. Spurs held off a Manchester City side that was previously undefeated at home thanks to a very in form Paul Robinson and some gritty play from the team as a whole. Steed Malbranque sealed the win with a late goal to give Spurs a 2-0 victory that has them through to the Carling Cup semifinals! COYS!!!!

Malbranque really is one of the most underrated players there is. I love him to bits. Real shame that Defoe had to come off after the red card, what more can the guy do? hahaha. I wanna play the Scum in the final.

Malbranque was immense last night. Just the type of player we needed in that situation

You know, the other day my friend and I were talking about what a nice bit of business Steed Malbranque has been for Spurs. Everyone complains about the fact that we don’t have a left footed player on the wing but Malbranque not only plays his ass off every game but really has a knack for scoring a goal here and there. With a little more luck yesterday he could have walked away with a brace, then again with a little less luck he could have been sent off… Anyway, I agree with both of you. I’m looking forward to the draw. Speaking of which, does anyone know what the draw date is for the Carling and UEFA?

More important than Malbranque was the Bolton-esqe performance of Berbatov last night as a lone forward. It was that game last year that made us all realize that he was world class, and he is starting to catch that same form.

Also it was nice to see O’Hara. I missed the game saturday and he looked good to me.

O’Hara has looked good in both!

Yeah, I think it was the Fulham fixture last year when we went up 2-0 from two Keane goals only to see him sent off due to a handball in the box. Fulham converted the pen but Spurs held the narrow lead for the rest of the game much in part to Berba who was magnificent… Berba did much of the same yesterday. He’s class… and fuck United for trying to get him from us!

Correction: You’re right Johnny, it was v. Bolton last year… I don’t know why I was thinking it was Fulham…. But I do remember the performance by Berba, that’s for sure.
