North London Derby! – Can Spurs Finally Figure out Gunners?

It seems there’s more on the line then simple bragging rights going into Saturday’s North London Derby at the Lane. I can’t speak for Ars*nal fans as they’re normally preoccupied with some sort of David Hasselhoff/Baywatch convention or putting together floral arraignments, but this fixture has been highlighted on my calendar since it was announced. The shear anticipation has me buzzing, and not from the lagers I had last night.

The good news is Spurs look healthy going in and, with the exception of Ledley King; Jol should have a pretty deep squad to pick from. Lennon could well be making his return to the right side adding a bit more width and giving us our first look at both he and Bale playing on the wings. Bent, Gardner and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are also back in training.

If that’s the good news then what’s the bad news? Well, with four points to show for five games played Spurs need to be looking at Saturday’s game as a must win (or about as close to a must win as there could be for the sixth game of the year). Gooners are one of four teams at the top of the league at the moment with ten points. A loss would mean being nine points out after only six games and Arsenal would still have a game in hand. Our preseason dreams of usurping our rivals as number four wouldn’t look quite so rosy after a mere month and a half now would they? So while fans of our North London rivals are busy doing macramé and figuring out how on earth they’re going to get rid of that strange skin condition they contracted after waking up naked next to a stray Border Collie we are left hoping that Spurs can finally pull out a big win and do us proud!

Leave a post and tell us your thoughts and while you’re at it don’t shy away from giving our friends over at the Ass, er, Arsenal offside a dose of crap too: http://arsenal.theoffside.com/

COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!

Always sh*t on the red side of town…. (repeat)

He’s only a poor little Gooner
His face is all tattered and torn
    He made me feel sick
So I hit him with a brick
And now he doesn’t sing anymore.

    You are my Lennon
    My Aaron Lennon
You make me happy when skies are grey
your twice the value of Theo Walcott
and a sh*te side better you might say.

Did you hear about Chimbonda getting arrested? He’s been bailed until October. Apparently he is a suspect in a fraud case in his transfer from Bastia to Wigan. Hopefully it won’t amount to much, but Spurs haven’t released any comments yet. Bit worrying, but hopefully it will be OK.

Cheers Richard, still more to come before the big day. And you don’t need to register to leave a comment - anonymous comments are enabled.

The worst thing is I won’t be able to watch the match as it isn’t being shown live here!!! Whose stupid idea was that? I know someone who has a box at The Lane and he usually invites me to come along, but he hasn’t!! Bastard!

I think we can do them. Just gotta go at them from the start and defend somewhat competently. Maybe Lennon will start and cause them problems. We shall see…

LOL, I’m sure there’s something there, whb. How can you go to an Arse bar? There’s one here in Oakland and off the top of my head I can’t remember what cup tie it was last year, FA or Carling, but the game we went 2-0 up and ended in a draw. There was this yippy little Arsenal girl and two morons getting me sick. Of course I think it was the game more then them but oh well.

Jay, that hurts just to hear…

In the UK, I have never heard of of a game on a Saturday afternoon kicking off at 1:30pm. The reason it’s at that time instead of the traditional 3pm or 12:45pm kick off time is not because of TV coverage, because it’s not being shown here, but I imagine so that the London Metropolitan Police can concentrate their efforts on protecting the Ars*nal fans before other fixtures in London. They will be absolutely shitting themselves.

    f*ck.
I have a question. I’ve been a big Jol supporter. I think those who have been worrying are forgetting that until Jol, 5th place was a dream.
However, our defense holds its shape like a binge-eating housewife in an ice cream factory. Is this Jol’s fault? Who else is to blame if some of the top defenders cannot stick to a decent formation? Chimbonda is all over the place. Perhaps its because of all the injuries and what not. This was Kaboul’s first time playing with Dawson, but seriously, there’s not organization!
And what about the central midfield… What is their role? Where are they?
    Am I way off here?
By the way, I don’t know if this needs to be stated, but I f*cking hate the Arse. And I hate Adebayor.
